Nighttime EntertainmentThe economy is making it hard to have fun, isn’t it? You feel bored by staying at home, night after night because your wallet is thin enough. Whether you’re a night owl or just someone who wants to switch things up, your nighttime entertainment might need a little rejuvenation. Sometimes you just don’t have the money to spend on the typical nighttime fare, so you need to cut back. But this doesn’t mean you want to stay at home all the time. Here are some easy ways to stay out late, without spending your entire paycheck at the bar. The Museum Night ExcursionThe museums in most areas are free at night, helping to give you a touch of class without being as expensive as a tuxedo. You can head to the special events at your museum, or you might just want to walk the galleries to look at ‘old’ paintings and works of art. No matter how many times you go, the art will look different and you might even find that you are able to appreciate it more (!). You can also attend special events that might be open to the public, including musical performances, new exhibitions, or demonstrations from local artists. Get on your local museums mailing lists to see what’s going on this weekend. Walking Around the Big CityIf you live near or in a big city, some of the best nights you can have are spent walking around the streets. Even if you don’t end up doing anything special, you can people watch and just soak in the energy of the night. Looking into the stores and the restaurants can be fun, as you can make up stories about the people and taunt the ones that seem to be less than exciting. You can wander into stores and see what they’re selling, helping to create conversation with your friends and even a date – plus you’re getting exercise. What a deal. A Bookstore EveningYou may also want to go to the bookstore to look at some books you’ve been meaning to buy. Instead, sit down in one of those comfy chairs to read the book, piece by piece. In time, you won’t need to spend a dime on it, and you will still be able to discuss it at your next smart friends gathering. You might want to splurge on a cup of coffee from the store’s shop, but wandering the aisles will be time consuming and it might even help you be smarter. Maybe. Well, maybe your new date will think so anyway, and you know what that means You don’t have to spend a lot of money in order to enjoy your nights. All you need to do is to think about entertainment in a new way. By just using your brain instead of your wallet, you can impress your friends, impress a date, and maybe even have fun along the way. Who knew being cheap could also be fun? |
